Preserving our stories. Connecting generations.

The Cultural Preservationist Society is a public-facing preservation organization, a community archive and a public-art partner. We believe the stories, traditions and lived experiences of a community are among its most valuable inheritances — and that they deserve to be documented with dignity, accuracy and consent.

How every project unfolds

  1. 01

    Listen & identify

Invite community members to describe what history or tradition needs preservation.

  2. 02

    Research & verify

Gather archival evidence, oral testimony, photographs and records.

  3. 03

    Engage the community

Form a working group of knowledge holders, families, historians, artists and educators.

  4. 04

    Create & document

Produce the memorial, exhibition, documentary, archive collection or program.

  5. 05

    Publish & educate

Share approved materials through the website, events and classrooms.

  6. 06

    Maintain the legacy

Update records, preserve original files and plan for long-term stewardship.

Ethical access

Not every cultural record should be public. We obtain permission before recording or publishing, honor requests for attribution, anonymity or removal, and keep sensitive materials in restricted preservation.
